Match Report – U18.5 Boys – Carrick RFC 19 – Galwegians RFC 12
Carrick U18.5s continued their good league form with an impressive away win on Sunday against a battling Galwegians team on a scoreline of 19-12.
This is Carrick’s second win in two weeks and gives a real boost to their league campaign. Played in ideal conditions, the first half saw Carrick quickly out of the blocks with a try on 7 mins when a quick tap from a penalty by Kristian Kopczynski saw him catch the Galwegians’ defence off-guard and run in a try.
Galwegians replied shortly afterwards with a try when a loose Carrick pass was latched onto and ran in for the score.
Carrick scored another try on 20 mins following a sustained period of pressure on the Galwegians try line, when Iarlaith Martin went over. The half time score was 14-7 in Carrick’s favour.
The second half was an arm wrestle with Carrick attacking strongly, but Galwegians stoutly defending. Carrick got another try on 52 mins when Peter Moran finished off a good move. Galwegians got a consolation try to finish out the game.
Great credit to both teams for an open and sporting game. Carrick U18.5s will return to action with an away game to league leaders Loughrea on Sunday the 23rd of November.
