6Y at 6N Launch

A great turnout for a Monday evening in the Tipsy Tailor for the public launch of “6 Years at 6 Nations” in association with Murtaghs Bar. An incredible grand prize of 2 tickets for every Ireland home 6 Nations game for 6 years (2026-2031).

Club Chairperson and Master of ceremonies, Pat Scott, kicked proceedings off by welcoming all to the launch and by first thanking our main sponsor and long-term supporter of the club Kenny Murtagh. The Club were delighted to welcome Councillor Maeve Reynolds and members of local media who came to lend their support to the launch. Pat introduced Willie Ruane, Connacht Rugby CEO, and former Connacht player, who travelled from his native Mayo to be with us on the night. Willie spoke to the power of community and was very gracious in his comments on how he has seen the Club develop both on and off the field. George McGrath, Pallas Marketing, who are the Clubs partner for the fundraiser, took a few moments to explain how the draw works and highlighted how highly sought after the grand prize on offer was.

Club President, Stephen King, shared a little of the Clubs early history, first founded in 1974 and so 50 years ago this year. It was fantastic to have several of the players from the Clubs earlier days in attendance including Jim Newcombe, Liam Farrell, and Gerry Fitzgerald to name but a few. While the Club disbanded for several years, others followed who took up the mantle; Sean McKeon, Niall Hanrahan and the late great Peter Layden who would be immensely proud of the progress being made to deliver on his vision and ambition for the Club. To close Pat Scott spoke to the Clubs Development plans, the Leader funding won to erect fencing around the pitch, install dugouts and purchase a scoreboard and finally to the how the funding will be prioritised, finishing the entrance and carpark, the development of a second pitch and our ambition to break ground on the Clubhouse in 2026.

All are welcome to join the Club this Sunday at 6PM in the Tipsy Tailor for the Early Bird prize draw. 2 tickets to Ireland v France on Saturday 8th March and €500 spending money. And if all that wasn’t enough anyone who joins us in the Tipsy Tailor on Sunday will be entered into a free draw where you could win 2 tickets to one of the upcoming Connacht games.
