Carrick U14s Secure Hard-Fought Victory at Castlecara

Carrick U14s emerged victorious this afternoon, overcoming Galwegians in a tightly contested league match at Castlecara Rd.
Despite the recent stretch of poor weather, the pitch held up remarkably well, providing almost perfect conditions for a fast-paced game of rugby. Carrick signaled their intentions early, dominating the early possession and territory. This relentless pressure paid off within six minutes as the home side crossed the white line for an early lead.
However, the momentum shifted quickly. A lapse in concentration during the subsequent restart allowed Galwegians to capitalize on a loose ball and sprint in for a try of their own. While Carrick controlled the lion’s share of the first half, they struggled to convert opportunities into points. Several promising attacks deep within the Galwegians’ 22-meter line went unrewarded, leaving the visitors with a slim 7–5 lead at the break.
The second half saw the intensity ramp up. Galwegians struck first to extend their lead, putting the home side under significant pressure. Refusing to buckle, Carrick responded with a devastating ten-minute burst midway through the half, scoring two tries in quick succession to reclaim the lead.
