Connacht Sen Development Cup: Carrick CS 26-21 St Louis CS Kiltimagh

Carrick Community School have reached the final of the Connacht Senior Boys Development Cup after a dogged home victory against St. Louis Community School (Kiltimagh) in their semi final match played last Wednesday 4th of March.

The first try went Carrick’s way complements of Krystian Kopczynski converted by Conor Kelly but St. Louis struck back with a Liam Smyth try converted by Michael Kearney.

Conor Kelly scored next, converting his own try to leave the half time score 14-7 to the home team.

Early in the second half Smyth scored his second try for St. Louis converted by Kearney again, 14-14. The visitors now had their tails up and were playing with the windy conditions but Carrick weathered the storm and slowly but surely brought play into the opposition half culminating in a fine Michael Farrell try converted by Kelly to leave the score 21-14. 

Carrick continued where they left off and up popped Des Keane to score Carrick’s fourth try. St Louis that garnered a late consolation try complements of Liam Smyth for his hat trick of tries but in the end it was a 26-21 victory to Carrick Community School.

The final will be played at the home of Connacht Rugby, the Dexcom Stadium – please keep an eye on the Community School or Club social media sites for updates.
