Carrick-on-Shannon U14s were at home to Loughrea on Sunday afternoon.
The old adage of forwards win games and backs decide by how much. Playing into a stiff breeze Carrick took an early lead through a training park move off the back of a scrum. A further try followed minutes later through the opposite wing. Loughrea responded with a well worked converted try of their own. At times in the first half Loughrea were exceptional in the jackal with Carrick support a fraction off. The half finished with the home side leading 24 v 7.
Carrick started the second half as they finished the first, with all of the available squad contributing on the field. A dominant second half performance from the forwards with all of the backs making strong impacts, running great lines with and without the ball which was rewarded with 5 further tries. A performance for the team to be proud of albeit the score board somewhat flattered the home side.
